Description
Aims
This course aims to explore the barriers to effective management of unanticipated airway emergencies, and the strategies to overcome these. With a focus on both technical skills and non-technical skills of decision making, communication and teamwork, this course is designed to optimise participants' management of time-critical airway emergencies.
Topics covered:-
- Human factors in airway management
- Teamwork, communication and situational awareness
- Utilisation of cognitive aids
- Upper airway rescue and CICO rescue strategies and skills
Training Methods
• Immersive scenarios with personalised feedback and debriefing
• Hands-on Skills Workshops including upper airway rescue optimisation and CICO rescue techniques
• Pause & discuss scenarios
• Video and case-based learning exercises
